DAY 13 & 14- PHILIPPINES AND CHINA

DAY 13 – MANILA TO BACOLOD

Today we flew to Bacolod after a nice buffet breakfast at the Trader Hotel in Manila. We said good bye to the rest of the group.

We arrived in Bacolod mid afternoon.

From the ride from the airport I knew I liked Bacolod. Much cleaner than other PI towns and cities I have been to.

It feels different as well. Hard to explain…but I feel a difference in the all around feel.

And it really does help that I spotted a Starbucks only a block away from our hotel and a McDonalds as well! LOL! I never go to McDonald’s at home…only on foreign soil!

For dinner we had Bacolod style chicken. It is called Insala Manok. Very tasty! Johnny has been telling me about it for a long time. Finally got to taste it. Chicken grilled on wooden sticks over hot coals. Next on to McDonalds for a ice cream sundae!

DAY 14 – BACOLOD

Last night I had one of the best massages I have ever experienced by a little Filipina girl. Small but strong! 75 min for only 9.83 CDN. Crazy! And yes I did tip her!!

Today was church with the Torres. What a lovely family. They have 3 biological children and 5 adopted children.

After service we went to Bob’s for lunch with all of them. The fish and chips were very good. I also ordered pancit luglug and didn’t care for it…I was looking for the traditional pancit the Filipinos in Canada serve us.

We visited the site of their future church….they are in the middle of a building program.

We are back at the hotel now after a visit to Starbucks for a Salted Caramel Frappacino. Yum!

After another great massage tonight we went down for a bowl of Pancit Molo in the hotel dining room. Add a green mango shake to that and you are living!
