VIENNA

This was my first time to Vienna and I loved it!

I will be adding more to this post but I wanted to get the information for the Spanish Riding School Show here for someone visiting Vienna soon.

SPANISH RIDING SCHOOL SHOW

We were all blown away by the performance at this show. We paid extra to get the front row seats in the Royal Box. I would HIGHLY recommend these seats. I had read that they were the best spot to get the full effect of the precision of the horses and riders and I agree.

You are watching what was performed to the Royal Family for many years. These horses were trained for war in ages past. Every movement is synced to ride as a group in battle. So many applicaitons you can make as you watch concerning leadership. The gentle hand, leg, and foot movements made by the rider to expertly direct the horse in his steps and movements.

OLD TOWN:

This area is great for walking around in. Wander the streets and get lost. Your GPS will get you back to where you need to go.

FOOD:

Cafe Sacher at Hotel Sadher. It was a famous meeting place for the who’s who of Vienna in the 1800’s They are famous for thier Sacher Torte. It is a chocolate cake with apricot jam filling.

We ate here twice. Griechenbeisl It has a room called Mark Twain Room with signatures from famous people who had eaten there, including Mozart, Beethoven, Johnny Cash (LOL) and Mark Twain.

TOUR:
Mozart House and Museum

One of the apartements where Mozart lived and composed. Worth the visit for music lovers.

Sigmind Freud House: We only viewed this from the outside.

St Stephen Cathedral: Free except for catacomb/tombs area. Worth seeing!

CONCERT:
5 Piece String Ensemble Concert playing Valvaldi’s Four Seasons at St Stephen’s Cathedral. Really nice. Seating was not comfortable but endurable.

We bought the tickets online. There was also a booth outside the catherdal selling tickets. I am sure the concerts change continually. You can check out the current one when you visit the church.
